This book is a frank, direct look at one of the serious issues of our time: **”irresponsible rejection” and “baseless slander” in language spaces that assume anonymity**, such as social media, reviews, and comment sections.
Even on the reviews for my Kindle books, this“groundless nonsense”sometimes gets posted. Of course, most people are sensible and decent. But every so often these things appear, and when I see that there are people who can do nothing but manipulate impressions and slander others at such a low level, I feel sick of Japanese society all over again.
“Is this what grown adults are like?” “The reason society is messed up is because we give freedom to people like this.” “How stupid do you have to be to commit rotten acts while living in such a wealthy, wonderful, safe country?” I think things like that, and I think it would be better to make the irresponsible anonymous people take some responsibility—”People who use anonymity on the internet to make baseless denials and slander should be given some kind of educational opportunity.”That’s what I think. It may sound a little exaggerated, but words can kill people. As human beings, in the course of our evolution, I think we now need to understand the effects of words more deeply.
I believe everyone should only be allowed to write after making their real name and address public. I’ve actually done that for 13 years, and I’ve found that it leads to nothing but good things because it allows me to take responsibility. I think slander would drop dramatically if that were the case. If someone slanders you and you know their address, most people would go to that person’s home to resolve the issue in a healthy way. I think irresponsible people who hide behind anonymity should not be allowed to have smartphones.
And in the age of AI, AI is already starting to intervene everywhere, and that intervention will only keep increasing. As a result, in a good way, we humans will be under AI’s watch, and each person’s actions (what they post) will be understood in context (with their background and circumstances taken into account). In other words, even things that were previously hard to expose—like impression manipulation and gaslighting—will become easier to document as evidence.Imagine this: there is an abuser who pretends to be the victim while secretly and repeatedly attacking the other person psychologically without anyone noticing. Until now, it was hard to gather proof. But AI robots keep evolving, and an AI robot is always right beside you. If you tell the AI robot, “Person A is always attacking me in small ways. But they say they’re not doing it on purpose. I told them to stop because it makes me suffer, but they keep doing it even after I said so. I’m also having sleep disorders and other problems (diagnosed by a doctor), so I can’t just leave this as it is. Please monitor the details of the communication over the long term, preserve evidence of the other person’s abuse, and organize the information so it can be submitted to the court,” there may come a day when it will properly secure the evidence for you. Of course, I think there are huge issues to solve in terms of privacy and freedom of expression, but I believe something along those lines will be realized in some form.Abusers may also hide their abuse inside nonsense and carry out attacks.
So what is nonsense?
This is not an insult.
I’m using this word because it is the most appropriate one.
■ What is nonsense?
Words that are meaningless, baseless, reckless, and irresponsible.
Statements that lack seriousness or legitimacy and are not worth listening to.
Baselessly denying others can be the breeding ground for slander, defamation, insult, irresponsible labeling, and unconstructive criticism, and it is an act that exposes a lack of intelligence and immaturity.
People who post baseless negative reviews probably already have a habit of making harmful comments like this in everyday life. That’s why I think they don’t write any reasons when they deny something about others.
Your thinking is,
extremely consistent and makes sense both ethically and intellectually.
