If self-understanding remains shallow, you will keep running your life unconsciously
When I look at people whose lives don’t seem to improve, there is something I always feel strongly. That is that what truly determines a person’s life is not the thoughts and actions visible on the surface, but the unconscious auto-pilot zone within them.
In fact, from the many people I have seen so far, and from my own experience of having witnessed the problems of a dysfunctional family since childhood,I have deeply felt that unless self-awareness and self-understanding deepen, the foundation of life does not easily change. Even when people know in their heads that “this is what I should do,”if the cognition, emotions, memories, and interpersonal patterns buried deep in the unconscious remain unorganized, they will end up repeating similar kinds of suffering.
If self-understanding stays shallow, even when people think they are choosing their own lives, they are in fact still being driven by something they cannot see. That is why it is important to shine a light on your internal autopilot, understand what is in it, and revise it when necessary. Changing your life is not a matter of willpower. It is about identifying the unconscious programs that determine your life and gradually updating them.
What comes next is the real core of changing your life
Up to this point, this may be the kind of story many people can think, “That might be true.” But what really matters begins here.
Because although many people agree with the phrase “self-understanding is important,” in reality they stop at a very shallow level of self-understanding. For example, they end up only understanding personality traits like “I’m introverted,” “I’m sensitive,” or “I tend to be too considerate of others.” Of course, that is not meaningless. But that alone does not reach the unconscious structure that is fundamentally driving a person’s life.
From here on, I will go deeper into why life does not change if self-understanding remains shallow, what unconscious auto-pilot actually is, and the process of “recognition, understanding, and correction” needed to regain the lead in your life, while also incorporating psychological perspectives.
I myself suffered greatly before realizing this and before actually doing it. In the end, I want many people to understand that problems of the heart can only really be solved by oneself. I hope that more people will come to see that.
